| To reduce reliance on OP (polyurethane elastic yarn), the industry often uses false-twist textured polyester filament. Heat setting develops a crimped structure that gives the yarn moderate mechanical stretch and recovery, bulk, and a soft cotton-like hand. Compared with OP-containing stretch systems, this approach can reduce mixed-material use and may eliminate some covering or blending processes. Its bulky structure can improve fabric coverage, softness, and skin comfort while creating a natural cotton-like appearance and touch. However, the greater yarn volume and trapped still air can also increase fabric thickness and thermal resistance. When combined with a high-density construction or higher fabric weight, it may reduce heat dissipation and perceived breathability in hot conditions, increasing the risk of a stuffy feel. AFFT (Advanced Fully Functional Technology Inc.) therefore uses PTT/PET bicomponent elastic polyester filament combined with PET fine-denier filament to create a comfortable all-polyester stretch fabric without OP. The differential shrinkage of the PTT/PET bicomponent filament forms fine, recoverable mechanical crimp. Together with PET multifilament yarn and a high-density single-jersey construction, it creates irregular micro-texture and extremely short micro-loops on the fabric surface. These fine surface effects come from continuous filaments rather than staple-fiber fuzz, giving the fabric a soft, refined, premium micro-suede-like touch. After high-temperature heat pressing, the fabric surface becomes smoother, more compact, and more uniform. Fine-denier filament, high-density construction, and a smooth contact surface work together to improve initial heat transfer at skin contact, creating a fresh cooling touch and a clean, refined appearance. At approximately 110 g/yd, this ultra-lightweight fabric combines comfortable four-way stretch, a soft hand, moisture transport, quick drying, and UV protection. It is suitable for close-to-skin summer apparel. The high-density circular-knit surface delivers the compact refinement of warp knitting together with the clean appearance of a woven fabric. The fabric body uses a PET/PTT all-polyester material design without OP, nylon, or cotton. Compared with polyester/spandex stretch fabrics, it supports a simpler recycling stream and provides a material foundation for mechanical recycling and textile-to-textile circular design. Suitable applications include underwear, cooling T-shirts, lightweight active tops, next-to-skin functional apparel, and a wide range of high-density knitted products. |
